Tarutinskoye company plans to develop the Vostochno-Tarutinskoye copper deposit, located on the border of Kostanay region and Russia. The enterprise is owned by the Cyprus-registered Kazakh Mining Company, reports the website infohub.kz.
The deposit includes the Severny and Yuzhny sections, where open-pit mining with drilling and blasting is planned. The maximum capacity of the quarries will reach 500,000 tons of ore per year. However, development has not yet begun: the necessary infrastructure, including roads, is lacking. The company notes that mining could start in 2028.
The Vostochno-Tarutinskoye deposit is located about 175 km northwest of Kostanay and 15 km from the Baskol railway station. It is part of the transboundary Tarutinskoye deposit, the main part of which lies in the Chelyabinsk region of Russia.
Exploration of the area began back in 1946. In 2011-2013 and 2019-2020, Tarutinskoye conducted a complex of geological exploration works, mainly drilling. As of 2021, the balance reserves of the deposit amount to 2.03 million tons of ore containing 22,100 tons of copper (grade 1.09 grams per ton). Also accounted for are 88.5 kg of gold and 5.6 tons of silver. In addition, there are significant off-balance reserves - about 9.75 million tons of ore with 69,700 tons of copper.
The owner of Tarutinskoye is Kazakh Mining Company, registered in Cyprus; its beneficiaries are unknown. One of the company's main assets is the Aktobe Copper Company (AMK), previously owned by the Russian Copper Company (RCC) of Russian businessman Igor Altushkin.
Earlier it was reported that AMK plans to extract 723,900 tons of copper ore by the end of 2025 at the Avangard deposit mine in the Khromtau district of the Aktobe region.
