For more than five years, 350 shareholders of the Atamari residential complex could not get the keys to their apartments. They invested their money back in 2020, but the developer never fulfilled its obligations. As a result, the project became a long-term construction, and people were left without housing and without clear completion dates for years. This was reported today by the capital's prosecutor's office, reports the website infohub.kz.

According to the supervisory authority, the protracted story was resolved through court: the unfinished building was transferred to a newly created housing cooperative. After that, the complex was completed, and the shareholders finally received their apartments. At the same time, Atamari is far from the only such case, prosecutors note.

"Since the beginning of this year, courts have satisfied one lawsuit filed by a prosecutor in the interests of 277 shareholders for a total of 3.9 billion tenge. Work to ensure legality in the sphere of shared construction is under constant supervision of the prosecutor's office. The capital's prosecutor's office urges citizens to check for the relevant permit on the website homeportal.kz before buying an apartment in a building under construction," notes Dina Tukeva, assistant prosecutor of Astana.
