Two patients from the same family are undergoing treatment in a hospital in the Atyrau region with suspected Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Kazinform news agency, two members of one family have been hospitalized in the Atyrau Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital with suspected CCHF. The regional administration's press service said one of the patients, a resident of the Isatay district, was admitted on August 12 with characteristic symptoms. The diagnosis of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever was confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing. Her condition is stable, of moderate severity, with positive dynamics. Treatment is being carried out under the supervision of republican specialists.
The second patient is also under medical observation. His condition is stable, with positive dynamics. The PCR test for CCHF returned a negative result.
All contact persons have been registered and are under medical observation. To date, no symptoms of the disease have been registered in them. Specialists have also taken samples from agricultural and domestic animals, as well as examined ticks in the area where the case was detected. The results of laboratory tests were negative.
