Dolores Aveiro, the mother of Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, has said her son is not appreciated in his homeland. She made the remarks in an interview with the local magazine TV7 Dias, according to NUR.KZ, citing RIA Sport, as reported by infohub.kz.
"I'm sad, it's normal. It was a shock. My son could have left through the front door, but he left through the back. But it's okay, God will take care of everything. I cried a little, that's good too — to let out emotions. We need to deal with all this," Dolores Aveiro said, commenting on the recent scandal involving her son.
She recalled how much Cristiano has done for Portugal.
"He has done a lot for Portugal, so his achievements will not go away. He has always been a hero of Portugal. He is not appreciated as he should be," Ronaldo's mother said.
Recall that earlier Cristiano Ronaldo did not take part in a Portugal national team training session after the coach did not put him on the field in a Nations League match. He later said he had decided to leave the Portugal squad.
Later, the Portuguese Football Federation explained what Ronaldo's unauthorized departure from the squad could mean for him. He could be disqualified and fined.
Also, it recently became known that the No. 7 shirt in the Portugal national team was given to another player after the scandal with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Later, Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus said that Ronaldo could return to the team whenever he wants.
Later, Cristiano revealed details of the conflict with Portugal coach Jorge Jesus. The footballer said the manager twice broke his word.
