The Chicago Cubs defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-6 on Wednesday, completing a series sweep. Pete Crow-Armstrong homered twice and drove in four runs, while Nico Hoerner added three hits. Chicago won for the fourth time in five games and improved to 32-15 since June 11, strengthening their hold on the top spot in the NL wild-card standings.
The Dodgers, two-time defending World Series champions, have lost six straight games for the first time since a seven-game skid in July 2025. Shohei Ohtani hit two home runs, including a two-run shot in the eighth inning, and Max Muncy added a three-run homer in a five-run eighth. Mookie Betts had four hits.
Ohtani and Crow-Armstrong exchanged leadoff homers in the first inning, continuing their race for NL MVP. Chicago added two runs in the second on RBI doubles by Dansby Swanson and Crow-Armstrong. Crow-Armstrong made it 5-1 with a two-run homer in the fourth, his 26th of the season.
Chicago left-hander Shota Imanaga (8-9) allowed one run on eight hits over five innings, striking out six and walking none. In the eighth, Ohtani’s two-run homer off Ryan Zeferjahn trimmed the lead to one, but Kiké Hernández struck out to end the inning. Jacob Webb pitched a perfect ninth for his sixth save.
Up next, the Dodgers start a series at Arizona on Friday, while the Cubs host Toronto on Thursday in a makeup game.
