Weather in Kazakhstan will change dramatically over the next three days — Kazhydromet forecasters have warned of shifting atmospheric patterns, according to infohub.kz.
An anticyclone that kept the country cool and dry will give way to a rain-bearing cyclone. It will bring heavy showers, thunderstorms and gale-force winds. The bad weather will hit western regions first before spreading to the north.
In the south, however, warm air masses from Uzbekistan will keep temperatures mild and conditions dry.
Astana will see partly cloudy skies and no precipitation on September 17. Southwesterly winds will gust up to 9–14 m/s. Overnight temperatures will range from +6…+8°C, rising to +23…+25°C during the day.
Almaty will also be cloudy and dry. Winds will reach 3–8 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will be +12…+14°C, with daytime highs of +25…+27°C.
Shymkent will be cloudy with no rain. Winds will gust up to 15–20 m/s. The thermometer will read +14…+16°C at night, with daytime temperatures climbing to +28…+30°C.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that thunderstorms, strong winds, fog and a dust storm were forecast for Kazakhstan on September 16. A storm warning was issued for Astana and 16 regions of the country.
