Kazakhstan's Anna Danilina (6), playing alongside American Desirae Krawczyk (33), failed to reach the quarterfinals of the China Open 2026 women's doubles. In their round-of-16 match, the pair lost to New Zealand's Erin Routliffe (30) and Aldila Sutjiadi (19) of Indonesia 4-6, 4-6, according to infohub.kz.
After a poor seventh game in the first set, Danilina and Krawczyk surrendered the American's serve to their opponents. Their attempts to break back came to nothing — 4-6.
In the second set, the comeback attempt succeeded. Danilina and her partner broke back in the fourth game to level at 2-2 after dropping serve in the third. At 3-3, however, Routliffe and Sutjiadi broke again. That proved decisive. After 1 hour and 25 minutes, the Kazakh-American pair had to accept defeat — 4-6, 4-6.
Earlier in Beijing, Kazakhstan's top players Alexander Bublik (22) and Elena Rybakina also packed away their rackets. The world No. 1 said she would not play in Wuhan because of injury, a tournament where she reached the quarterfinals last year.
In the men's event, Novak Djokovic (8) won the China Open for a seventh time the day before. In the final, the Serb faced Australia's Alex de Minaur (9), who retired with an injury at 6-7 (3-7), 1-0.
The China Open is being held this year for the 25th time on the men's side (ATP 500) and the 27th time on the women's side (WTA 1000). The total prize pool is $9.4 million.
Over the years, the prestigious hard-court tournament in Beijing has been won by Michael Chang, Jim Courier, Marat Safin, Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, Serena Williams, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Maria Sharapova, Caroline Wozniacki, Iga Swiatek, Jannik Sinner and other stars.
