18-year-old Kazakhstani forward Dastan Satpayev made his first appearance for English club Burnley in a Championship match against West Bromwich Albion. The game ended in a 1:3 defeat for his new team, reports infohub.kz.
Burnley, who were relegated from the Premier League this spring, have set their sights on an immediate return to the top flight. In the first round, Nicky Hayen's side drew 2:2 with West Ham, who also dropped out of the Premier League.
In the second round, the Clarets traveled to face West Brom. Already in the 8th minute, a quick attack by the visitors resulted in an own goal by Callum Styles, who deflected the ball into his own net. However, the hosts quickly recovered: in the 18th minute, Harry Whitwell restored parity, and early in the second half, Isaac Price put Albion ahead.
Looking to turn the tide, Burnley's coaching staff made several substitutions, including bringing on Dastan Satpayev. In the 57th minute, the Kazakh replaced Josh Laurent on the right flank of midfield. However, in the 65th minute, Price converted a penalty to complete his brace and set the final score at 3:1.
After that, Satpayev became one of Burnley's most active players, boldly taking on opponents and delivering several passes into the forward line. However, West Brom's tight defense prevented him from fully showcasing his skills. The hosts secured a comeback victory and moved up to second place in the league table.
It is worth recalling that Satpayev's transfer from Kairat to Chelsea was announced in February 2025. The deal, including bonuses, was valued at €4.3 million. After a preseason tour with the Blues in Australia and Asia, where Dastan scored a goal in Sydney, he was loaned to Burnley for the season. On August 12, our prodigy turned 18.
