18-year-old Kazakhstani forward Dastan Satpayev, who recently signed with London's Chelsea, will soon go on loan to Burnley, reports infohub.kz.
According to BBC, Satpayev has already arrived at the Championship club and is set to undergo a medical before the deal is finalized. Burnley hopes to complete the loan as soon as possible. The Kazakhstani has already headed to Turf Moor, with the medical expected before the team's first match of the new Championship season.
The move could happen just days after Satpayev officially became a full Chelsea player. On August 12, his 18th birthday, the Kazakhstani signed a six-year contract with the London club, with an option for an additional season. The transfer from Kairat was preliminarily agreed back in early 2025. The deal, including bonuses, was valued at €4.3 million.
Satpayev has already played for Chelsea in pre-season. He joined his new team before the transfer was officially completed – Kairat allowed him to undergo pre-season training with Chelsea early. Chelsea's head coach, Xabi Alonso, included Satpayev in the tour of Australia and Asia.
The forward's most notable performance came in the first match. In the game against Western Sydney Wanderers, Satpayev started and scored Chelsea's first goal of pre-season in the sixth minute. He played 63 minutes, and the Londoners won 6:4.
However, his playing time then decreased. In the match against Tottenham, Satpayev came on in the 69th minute, against Juventus he also came on as a substitute, and he was an unused substitute in the match against Milan.
In the final game of the Asian tour against Malaysia's Johor Darul Ta'zim, the Kazakhstani appeared only at the end and, including stoppage time, played eight minutes. The match ended 3:3.
Thus, in the five tour matches, Satpayev appeared on the pitch four times, but only once as a starter. He scored one goal.
Burnley were relegated from the Premier League last season and will play in the Championship in 2026/27. Their first league match of the new season is on August 16 at home against West Ham, who also left the Premier League. The match will be at Turf Moor.
According to BBC, Satpayev is expected to undergo his medical before this match. However, the outlet does not say whether the Kazakhstani will complete all registration procedures in time to play against West Ham.
The loan to Burnley will be Satpayev's first experience of competitive matches in English football. Unlike fighting for playing time in Chelsea's crowded attacking line, at the Championship club the Kazakhstani can expect more regular senior football.
Chelsea are currently engaged in a large-scale effort to send young players out on loan. BBC reports that this week Ryan Kavuma-McQueen is heading to Portsmouth, Reggie Walsh to Wigan, and Shim Mkheka is also close to a temporary exit from the London club.
Before moving to England, Satpayev made 58 appearances for Kairat's first team, scoring 26 goals and providing ten assists.
