During the court hearing on the death of paramedic Uldana Myrzuan, the chair of the condominium association, Saule Zhubaniyazova, stated that people who knew about the building's inspection results had already sold their apartments, reports infohub.kz.

Answering prosecutors' questions, Zhubaniyazova explained that if residents had complaints about cracks, she and other residents would have raised the alarm. The defendant also added that last year she was offered to sell her apartment.

“In 2025, I had a buyer; my mother planned to sell the apartment to be closer to a school for the child, who was starting first grade. But since there were no cracks and residents didn't complain, and we didn't see any ourselves, we didn't sell. If I had known or seen cracks, I would likely have sold the apartment, as did those who knew about the inspection—two auditors, Akhmetova, Zhanpeisova. They are all no longer in our building. They sold their apartments, while I, who supposedly knew about it, even took over as head of the condominium association. That defies all logic. I didn't know about that inspection (regarding the need for facade repairs),” she explained.

She also said that 800,000 tenge was allocated for facade repairs, but it concerned the lower part of the facade where paint had peeled. “They allocated 800,000 tenge for that, which is for facade repair, not for masonry repair. Last year, I consulted specialists about painting the lower floor, and it came to over 2.5 million tenge, while she (Akhmetova) allocated 800,000. When the condominium association was created, I received 1 million 96 thousand tenge into the savings account; I had no other funds, and my cash register started from zero,” the defendant explained.

Recall that on November 8, 2025, in Astana, the outer brick cladding and an air conditioner fell from the facade of a nine-story residential building. A paramedic was injured on the spot—when the young woman tried to pull a man from the rubble, an air conditioner fell on her head from the 9th floor. She underwent a craniotomy.

On November 18, it became known that the paramedic had died.

On August 18, 2026, an open trial began in Astana regarding the death of Uldana Myrzuan. On the defendants' bench was the head of the condominium association, Saule Zhubaniyazova.

During the hearing, the victims spoke—Gulnur Kaliyeva, who became disabled after the incident, and her brother, who rushed to help his sister after receiving her call.

The court also revealed that among the emergency workers who rescued people, there were a dismissal and a demotion.

Additionally, the former building manager, who held the position before Zhubaniyazova, was questioned as a witness. According to her, problems in the building existed even before 2020.

The court also showed video footage from surveillance cameras installed in the courtyard of the building where the cladding collapsed.

Today, an expert in construction also testified. She spoke about violations committed during the construction of the residential complex.
