Kazakhstani wrestler Dinara Dauylkyzy finished her campaign at the U20 World Championships in Bratislava, losing the bronze medal match to Uzbekistan's Sakhibzhamal Esbosynova 0:12, reports infohub.kz.

In the 50 kg category, Dauylkyzy cruised past her early opponents: she beat Azerbaijan's Esra Mamadali 7:1 in the opening bout and defeated Belarus' Kseniya Kryshtofnik 10:2 in the Round of 16. However, in the quarterfinals, she suffered a heavy loss to Venezuela's Alexa Alvarez 0:11. But since Alvarez reached the final, Dauylkyzy got a shot at bronze through the repechage, where she dominated Kyrgyzstan's Elmira Karabalaeva 14:3.

In the decisive third-place bout against Esbosynova, Dauylkyzy could not impose her will and lost by a wide margin, leaving empty-handed. Thus, she failed to add a world bronze to her Asian U20 bronze from 2026.

No other Kazakhstani wrestlers competed in the medal matches that day. Alpamys Bulatuly (60 kg) and Nurdaulet Rakhman (82 kg) in Greco-Roman, as well as Medina Kuanyshbek (50 kg) and Meiramgul Maksut (72 kg), were eliminated in the early rounds.

Kazakhstan's only medal, and it was gold, came from Greco-Roman wrestler Kyzybek Kalmagambetov in the 67 kg category.

The world championship, organized by United World Wrestling (UWW), is taking place in the Slovak capital. It features 700 young athletes from around the globe competing for 120 sets of medals in three styles: Greco-Roman, freestyle, and women's wrestling. Kazakhstan is represented by 30 wrestlers – 20 men and 10 women. The tournament runs until August 23.
