The US dollar cash rate has once again diverged from the official rate at exchange offices in Kazakhstan's major cities, reports infohub.kz.

Kazakhstan's National Bank published official exchange rates for July 18. The dollar was set at 469.83 tenge, the euro at 536.83 tenge, and the Russian ruble at 5.97 tenge. However, exchange offices in Astana, Almaty and Shymkent are using their own rates.

According to Kurs.kz, in Almaty the dollar is bought at an average of 471.24 tenge and sold at 473.38 tenge. The euro trades in the range of 537.59–542.94 tenge, and the Russian ruble at 5.67–5.81 tenge. In Astana, the dollar can be bought on average for 468.00 tenge and sold for 475.00 tenge. The euro is exchanged at 535.00–545.00 tenge, and the ruble at 5.72–5.92 tenge. In Shymkent, the dollar rate is 471.14–473.18 tenge, the euro at 537.02–541.96 tenge, and the Russian ruble at 5.67–5.74 tenge.

Notably, the tenge strengthened in trading on July 17 on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange. The weighted average dollar rate settled at 469.83 tenge, 2.24 tenge lower than the previous session.
