The weighted average dollar exchange rate on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) continues to decline, reaching 454.31 tenge, which is 2 tenge lower than over the weekend. This is the lowest value in over two years, reports infohub.kz.
Recall that on Wednesday, September 2, the dollar's exchange rate on the exchange dropped to 455.4 tenge, the lowest level since 2018. On Friday, the rate slightly rose to 456.56 tenge, but on Monday the decline resumed.
Following today's trading on KASE, the weighted average dollar rate stood at 454.31 tenge. Thus, over the weekend, the American currency fell by 2 tenge.
As of 3:30 PM in exchange offices of major Kazakh cities, the following buy and sell rates for cash dollars were set: in Astana — buy 452 tenge, sell 459 tenge; in Almaty — buy from 449.1 to 455 tenge, sell from 455.3 to 457.5 tenge; in Shymkent — buy from 454 to 455 tenge, sell from 455.5 to 457 tenge.
The euro also fell by almost 4 tenge, with its weighted average rate today at 527.46 tenge. In exchange offices across the country, the euro rates are as follows: in Astana — buy 524 tenge, sell 534 tenge; in Almaty — buy from 521.5 to 531 tenge, sell from 529 to 535 tenge; in Shymkent — buy from 525 to 529 tenge, sell from 530 to 535 tenge.
It is worth noting that on Friday, September 4, the National Bank of Kazakhstan lowered its base rate, which in the future may make tenge deposits less attractive and put additional pressure on the national currency's exchange rate.
