The first full week of October began with the tenge weakening: the US dollar gained more than 6 tenge on the weighted average rate in currency trading, infohub.kz reports.

The previous week ended on a sour note for the national currency — the tenge weakened to 448.36 tenge, adding more than 6 tenge on Friday.

But on Monday, October 5, the situation continued to deteriorate for Kazakhstan's currency: according to the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), by 15:30 the weighted average dollar rate had again gained more than 6 tenge, reaching 454.98 tenge. The rate may still change before trading closes at 17:00.

Exchange offices in major cities also revised their prices. According to the Kurs.kz portal, they set the following rates:

Astana: buying — 449 to 454 tenge, selling — 456 to 459 tenge;

Almaty: buying — 451.5 to 457.5 tenge, selling — 457.8 to 461 tenge;

Shymkent: buying — 453 to 455.5 tenge, selling — 457 to 458 tenge.

The euro also strengthened, rising to 508.73 tenge on the National Bank's weighted average rate. Exchange offices, in turn, are offering the following prices:

Astana: buying — 501 to 508.2 tenge, selling — 509.8 to 515 tenge;

Almaty: buying — 502 to 511 tenge, selling — 511 to 518 tenge;

Shymkent: buying — 500 to 510 tenge, selling — 508 to 518 tenge.
