A double murder occurred in Karaganda: the victims were a 43-year-old chairman of a gardening cooperative and a 55-year-old woman returning from her dacha. The tragedy unfolded at the exit of the gardening community, reports the website infohub.kz.
According to police, the suspect, after shooting his successor, decided to get rid of an accidental witness. After that, he tried to flee, but his whereabouts were established through surveillance cameras. The main suspect is the former chairman of the same cooperative.
Local residents said that the murdered man took over the cooperative at the beginning of the season. Some speak of him as a decent manager: "He kept order. We often had pipe bursts, and he replaced the pipes. His plumbers worked well, even staying after hours. The streets were trimmed, trees were pruned. He was good; I can't say anything bad," shared Vladimir Edukov.
Other cooperative members, on the contrary, claim that with the arrival of the new chairman, problems with water and utilities began. They do not believe that a 56-year-old man, known to them for many years, is capable of murder. "Korovin had many ill-wishers. He used to work as a lawyer. He also had people whom he cheated out of money. We don't believe that Andrei could have done this — or maybe he really drove him to it. But he wouldn't have done it; we always stopped him. We said, 'Don't touch him,'" said cooperative member Svetlana Romanova.
The conflict between the former and new chairmen lasted three years. They often quarreled, even going to court, but the main point of contention was the chairman's seat. Police do not comment on the motives for the crime.
Earlier it was reported that in one of the gardening communities in the district named after Alikhan Bokeikhan in Karaganda, the bodies of a 43-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman with gunshot wounds were found. A criminal case has been opened under the article "Murder."
