South African MMA fighter Dricus du Plessis handed a crushing defeat to Nigerian Kamaru Usman, reports infohub.kz.
The middleweight bout (up to 83.9 kg) headlined the UFC Fight Night event in Oklahoma City.
The fight lasted all five rounds and was primarily a stand-up battle. Du Plessis dominated each round, outlanding his opponent in significant strikes and rocking him several times.
The result was a unanimous decision victory with scores of 50-45, 49-46, and 49-46. Thus, the South African avenged his title loss to Emirati Khamzat Chimaev, to whom he had surrendered the middleweight belt.
The 32-year-old du Plessis now has 24 wins and three losses in professional MMA.
Usman fought his second bout in the middleweight division, having previously lost to Chimaev. The 39-year-old Nigerian has 21 wins and five losses overall. Usman was previously the UFC welterweight champion (up to 77.1 kg).
