The organizer of a drone show held in Astana ahead of the Capital Day holiday may face administrative penalties. The city administration (akimat) stated that the event was not coordinated with them, according to infohub.kz.
The Astana akimat said the organizer of the July 5 drone show may have violated the established procedure for holding public events. An investigation has been launched.
The city administration stressed that the drone show was not part of the official Capital Day celebrations and was not organized by local executive authorities.
"The organizer did not submit a notification to the Astana akimat regarding the organization and conduct of the drone show. Therefore, the akimat did not make any decisions to approve, organize, or hold the event. No contracts, agreements, memorandums, or other documents were signed between the akimat and the organizer," the akimat's response stated.
The authorities reminded that the organizer must submit a written notification at least ten calendar days before the event, along with the program, regulations, and scenario.
According to the akimat, the organizer's actions may constitute an administrative offense under Article 488-1 of the Administrative Code.
"Currently, an investigation is underway regarding this incident. A decision will be made in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan based on the results," the akimat reported.
Authorities are also examining the circumstances of the show, including whether it contained elements of unfair or hidden advertising, as well as other possible violations of advertising laws.
Recall that the drone show took place on July 5. After the event, many residents and visitors criticized it on social media, noting the short program and the large amount of advertising. Later, the company Aspan Galaxy claimed the show was dedicated to upcoming concerts by Enrique Iglesias in Kazakhstan and was held after obtaining the necessary approvals. However, the akimat denied this.
