Police in Almaty have arrested a 22-year-old man suspected of distributing psychotropic substances. A search of his garage led to an unexpected discovery: instead of car parts, it contained ready-to-sell packages of a powdery substance, reports infohub.kz.

According to the Almaty Police Department, operational and investigative measures were carried out in the Turksib district. In the rented garage, officers found 70 packages of psychotropic substances, packaged for sale. The man admitted to working as a drug courier, distributing narcotics through hidden stashes in Almaty and the Almaty region. After his arrest, he pointed out the locations of already prepared stashes.

During subsequent searches, police seized an additional 120 packages near an industrial base, as well as 167 doses from three stashes on Baimagambetov Street. In total, 357 packages of suspected psychotropic substances were removed from illegal circulation. A criminal case has been opened, and a forensic chemical examination has been ordered.
