In the Zhambyl region, a 33-year-old driver under the influence of alcohol ignored police orders to stop and attempted to flee, reports infohub.kz.
Patrol officers spotted a Toyota Carina whose driver was violating traffic rules. The man did not react to the inspectors' demand to stop and continued driving, weaving through alleys. After a short chase, he was detained. A medical examination confirmed that the driver was drunk.
According to the detainee, shortly before the trip he had quarreled with his wife, which made him angry and decided to ignore the police order. The violator was issued protocols under two articles - for driving while intoxicated and for failing to comply with a lawful police order to stop.
The court sentenced the man to 15 days of administrative arrest and revoked his driver's license for seven years.
The police reminded that drunk drivers remain one of the main causes of serious accidents. Since the beginning of 2026, 923 people have been detained in the Zhambyl region for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Earlier it was reported that over the past year and a half, more than 25,000 Kazakhstani citizens lost their licenses for drunk driving.
