The Kazakhstan Football Federation has reached an agreement with Dutch specialist John van 't Schip to appoint him as the head coach of the national team, reports infohub.kz.
The official appointment will be made after approval by the KFF Executive Committee, in accordance with the federation's statutes. The committee meeting will take place in the coming days, after which a contract will be signed with the coach.
As a player, van 't Schip played for Ajax Amsterdam and Italy's Genoa, and also represented the Netherlands national team, with which he became European champion in 1988.
Van 't Schip began his coaching career in the Ajax system. Over the years, he has led the Amsterdam club, as well as Twente, Zwolle, Mexico's Guadalajara, and Australia's Melbourne City. In 2016, he won the Australia Cup with Melbourne City.
At the international level, van 't Schip has managed the national teams of Greece and Armenia.
The coaching staff of the Kazakhstan national team will include Nurbek Zhumaskaliev (assistant), Yeldos Akhmetov (assistant), Yuri Novikov (goalkeeping coach), Vadim Borovsky (fitness coach), and Timur Kussainov (analyst).
