The Dutch Institute on Drug Dependence and Mental Health has expressed serious concern over the appearance on the market of ecstasy pills bearing the image of former US President Donald Trump, reports infohub.kz.
Experts warn that these pills can be deadly. Although ecstasy is banned in the Netherlands, it remains widespread in nightclubs and at music festivals.
According to the institute's statement, these pills contain a high concentration of the chemical PMMA (para-methoxymethamphetamine). The presence of PMMA in ecstasy indicates contamination of the drug, making it potentially lethal.
Experts emphasize that the drug's effects are not immediate, which may prompt users to take a higher dose, increasing the risk of overdose. This, in turn, can lead to overheating, epileptic seizures, loss of consciousness, or heart problems.
The institute has published photos of the dangerous pills: they are multicolored, with the head of the American leader on one side, and on the other, the inscriptions "NL" and "Trump" are printed on either side of a vertical line.
