Russian law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation following media and social media reports of a shooting and hostage-taking at the country home of rapper Denis Ustimenko-Vainshtein, known by his stage name Dzhigan. The news was reported on September 23 by infohub.kz.
The press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Moscow Region said police officers have begun an investigation into the publication about the shooting at the musician's home.
Earlier, media outlets reported that Dzhigan allegedly took hostages and opened fire at his own home. It is claimed that on the night of July 3-4, he summoned his household staff and confronted them with weapons in hand.
According to reports, he accused the employees of crimes and suggested they confess to save their lives.
According to the publication, Dzhigan forced one of the employees to confess to child abuse, after which he shot the man, hitting him in the arm and leg. The rapper accused the other employees of betrayal, leaking information, and nationalism. He also gave them a chance to run away and opened fire.
Later, Dzhigan said that media and social media reports about the incident were untrue. The rapper denies that he fired at the employees. The artist confirmed that he is currently at a rehabilitation center.
The lawyer of Dzhigan's ex-wife, blogger and influencer Oksana Samoilova, responded to a question about the possible deprivation of the rapper's parental rights.
