The Mother and Child Center in Ust-Kamenogorsk will receive a Remebot RM-200 robotic system by the end of the year, designed for high-precision neurosurgical operations. This equipment will expand the range of care for children from the East Kazakhstan, Abai, and Pavlodar regions, according to infohub.kz.
A certificate for the supply of one unit of equipment worth over 433 million tenge was handed over to the Center by Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, during a working trip to the region. The equipment is purchased as part of the group's charitable activities through the Samruk-Kazyna Trust fund.
Currently, the Center already provides specialized neurosurgical care to children from three regions. The department with 22 beds performs planned and emergency operations. Over the past three years, surgical treatment of severe forms of epilepsy using VNS therapy has also been performed here — 33 operations have been carried out.
A new stage in the development of the service is associated with the introduction of robotic neurosurgery. The Remebot RM-200 allows creating a three-dimensional model of the brain, planning the operation in advance, and setting the trajectory of the surgical instrument with submillimeter accuracy. It is planned to use it for operations for drug-resistant epilepsy, minimally invasive tumor biopsies, and other complex interventions.
“For our region, the development of pediatric neurosurgery is of particular importance. Today, specialists of the Center already provide care to children from three regions, perform complex operations, and develop modern treatment methods. The new equipment will expand these capabilities and introduce technologies that were previously unavailable in our region. Our task is to consistently develop medical infrastructure, equip institutions with modern equipment, and create conditions for the professional growth of doctors. It is important that children from East Kazakhstan, Abai, and Pavlodar regions can receive the necessary high-tech care here in Ust-Kamenogorsk,” noted Nuryмбet Saktaganov, Akim of the East Kazakhstan region.
The development of the Mother and Child Center continues with the participation of the regional akimat, the healthcare system, the medical institution, and partners. The introduction of Remebot from Samruk-Kazyna JSC will be another step towards making complex neurosurgical operations accessible to children directly in the region.
