The East Kazakhstan region continues to deal with the aftermath of a severe storm. Akim (Governor) Nurymbet Saktaganov held an emergency meeting with heads of emergency services, utility and energy companies, as well as city and district akims, to assess the situation and set priorities, reports infohub.kz.
During the meeting, officials reported on the results of recovery efforts after the storm, which brought winds up to 19 m/s and 20.5 mm of precipitation. Power supply has been restored to more than 25,000 consumers. In total, 148 emergency workers and 27 pieces of special equipment were involved in the restoration work.
In the Ulan district, strong winds damaged the roofs of a school, a two-story residential building, and three buildings of the Ust-Kamenogorsk poultry farm. The total area of damage exceeded 1,000 square meters. Fortunately, there were no casualties. Residents of the affected buildings are eligible for targeted social assistance in the amount of 100 monthly calculation indices (MCI).
In Ust-Kamenogorsk, the main consequences of the storm were eliminated quickly: main roads were cleared of fallen trees within three hours, and major flooding was addressed within five hours. A total of 270 people and 41 pieces of equipment were involved, and 15 fallen trees were removed. As of today at 5:00 PM, less than 1,300 households remain without power, and restoration work is ongoing.
In the Glubokoe district, there were also power outages, but electricity has now been restored, although voltage in some homes remains weak.
The akim of the region instructed to complete the clearing of roads, sidewalks, and public areas as soon as possible. Within two days, an assessment of the damage must be submitted. Police are to ensure public order and safety at emergency sites and restrict access to dangerous areas. District and city akims are tasked with completing the restoration of power supply as quickly as possible.
