A family wealth assessment calculator launched in the eGov Mobile app the day before has turned out to be unavailable to some Kazakhstanis — the service works only for those already receiving social payments and benefits, the website infohub.kz reports.
News of the tool's appearance in the app emerged a day earlier. The calculator was launched as part of the shift to targeted provision of certain state support measures, which will begin on January 1, 2027. It was expected that citizens would be able to review the assessment criteria and determine their family's level of well-being. In total, more than 59 indicators across six areas are used for the assessment.
However, Kazakhstanis began sharing online that they could not use the calculator, since it is available only to those already receiving benefits.
An NUR.KZ correspondent tested the service in the eGov Mobile app. Indeed, attempts to use the service currently bring up a message about restricted access. In one case, a notification pops up saying the calculator is available only to citizens who already receive social payments and benefits.
Moreover, if a new attempt is made to use the service, the app may show a blank white screen with no notifications at all. The NUR.KZ correspondent sent a request to the press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population asking for comment on the decision.
Recall that a few days ago the country presented a well-being calculator that will rate Kazakhstanis from A to E — for example, the data of Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Asqarbeq Yertaev was checked.
The changes, which take effect on January 1, 2027, provide for dividing families into several categories. It was previously reported which Kazakhstanis will be assigned to categories A (wealthy), B (well-off), C (with income from 305,000), as well as D (on the poverty line) and E (the most vulnerable category).
In addition, it was explained how to understand which well-being category a family in Kazakhstan falls into. And the government said that some citizens have already begun voluntarily giving up benefits.
