Egypt will scrap additional visa requirements for Kazakh tourists that were previously imposed on Central Asian states, the website infohub.kz reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The foreign ministry's press service said Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi visited Egypt and held expanded talks with Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad. Following the meeting, the sides signed a protocol amending the intergovernmental agreement of November 7, 2006, on visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic passports. The document extends the visa-free regime to citizens of Kazakhstan and Egypt who hold valid service passports.
"One of the key outcomes of the talks was an agreement to remove Kazakhstan from the list of Central Asian states whose citizens face additional requirements introduced by the Egyptian side for entry into the country for tourism purposes. The decision is aimed at simplifying entry conditions for Kazakh tourists to Egypt and further developing tourism exchanges," the Foreign Ministry said.
What requirements are in force now? According to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry's website, new Egyptian visa rules for citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan took effect on October 1, 2025. Kazakh citizens under the age of 21 cannot enter Egypt unless accompanied by a parent — their father or mother. Kazakh citizens aged 21 or older traveling for tourism for no more than 15 days and staying within the Sharm el-Sheikh area can obtain a visa on arrival at Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport. Citizens planning trips to Cairo, Hurghada or other Egyptian cities must obtain a visa in advance from the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Kazakhstan.
