Following a hurricane that struck Ekibastuz and surrounding villages, local authorities have declared a natural emergency. Funds for reconstruction will be allocated urgently, primarily for the village of Kulaikol, which suffered the worst damage, reports infohub.kz.

Heavy rain, squalls, and hail hit the region over the weekend. Six people were injured. In the village of Kulaikol near Ekibastuz, the storm tore off roofs, destroyed dozens of homes, and damaged social infrastructure. Power lines were downed.

The exact extent of the damage is still being assessed, but to urgently allocate budget funds for recovery, a state of emergency has been declared in Ekibastuz. It will remain in effect until the consequences are fully eliminated, the regional administration reported.
