Former athlete Adil Tilektes died at an enterprise in Shymkent after being electrocuted. Details of the tragedy were reported by the police department, according to infohub.kz.
News of the wrestler's death appeared on the Telegram channel Haluqstan. According to the author of the post, Adil Tilektes accidentally touched a high-voltage cable and fell from a height, sustaining injuries incompatible with life.
"Despite numerous achievements in sports, including victory at the Kazakh Greco-Roman wrestling championship in the 60 kg weight category in 2019, Adil was forced to end his professional career and take a job at a ceramic tile factory in Shymkent to support his family. The athlete had hearing impairments. He competed actively for only two years before leaving the wrestling mat. The athlete is survived by two children," the post said.
According to the press service of the Shymkent police department, a pre-trial investigation is underway into the death of the worker at one of the city's enterprises.
"It has been preliminarily established that the man sustained a fatal injury as a result of electric shock during work. Necessary investigative actions are currently being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident," the department said.
In accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, other information is not subject to disclosure in the interests of the investigation, the police added.
