Proper workspace setup helps prevent fatigue and back pain, while incorrect screen distance leads to rapid eye strain, headaches, and poor posture. Experts shared these insights, according to infohub.kz.
Many of us spend eight hours a day at a computer without even thinking about where the monitor is placed. The simplest rule is to keep the display at arm's length. For standard 24-inch monitors, a distance of 50 to 70 centimeters is considered ideal.
If you have a larger screen, such as 27 inches, it's better to sit a bit farther back—up to 80 centimeters. But owners of huge displays 32 inches and above should push them almost a meter away to avoid constantly turning their heads from side to side.
Laptops are trickier, since their screens are quite small and people often lean in toward them. In this case, experts recommend using a stand and connecting a separate keyboard and mouse.
The top edge of any monitor should be directly at eye level or slightly below, and the screen itself is best tilted slightly back. If small text is hard to see, there's no need to move closer to the screen—just increase the zoom in the settings.
