In July 2026, nine of the ten best-selling passenger cars in China were electrified models, according to infohub.kz.
The only internal combustion engine vehicle in the ranking was the Toyota Corolla Cross, according to Carnewschina, citing CPCA data.
For the second consecutive month, the Geely Xingyuan led the Chinese market. The compact EV, sold in Kazakhstan as the Geely Galaxy EX2, saw 32,300 units sold. However, it faces serious competition from the Leapmotor A10, which took second place with 26,400 units.
Third place went to the Tesla Model Y with nearly 25,200 units sold. Following were the Xiaomi SU7 (21,000), Fang Cheng Bao Ti 7 (20,300), and BYD Yuan Up (20,300).
Rounding out the top ten were the Changan Qiyuan Q05, Li Auto i6, BYD Sea Lion 06, and Toyota Corolla Cross. The latter was the only gasoline model on the list, with 14,500 units sold in China during the month.
Thus, July's ranking almost entirely mirrored the trend seen in May, when the Chinese top ten had no internal combustion engine vehicles for the first time.
The Geely Xingyuan has been the leader of the Chinese market since 2025. However, the gap with the Leapmotor A10 no longer seems insurmountable: in July, the difference was only 5,800 units.
The Tesla Model Y was the most expensive car in the top ten. In China, the recommended price for the electric crossover ranges from 263,500 to 313,500 yuan (approximately 18.2–21.7 million tenge).
