World No. 1 Elena Rybakina will bring the 2026 US Open tennis trophy to Astana and Almaty, where she will hold masterclasses for young athletes. At the same time, the three-time Grand Slam champion will not play for Kazakhstan at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, infohub.kz reports.
According to the press service of the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation, Rybakina will spend a week in Kazakhstan. In addition to masterclasses for young tennis players, the world's top-ranked player will meet with fans and hold autograph sessions.
There, Elena will also undergo a medical examination for an injury sustained at the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati. Her Achilles tendon continued to bother her during the 2026 US Open. Playing on painkillers, Elena nevertheless won the championship title.
According to the coaching staff, Rybakina will need at least two weeks for treatment and recovery. For this reason, Elena will be unable to help the Kazakhstan national team at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, which will be held in China on September 22–27. In the near future, her priority will be recovery and returning to full training.
