In Kyrgyzstan, the number of emergency incidents from January to June 2026 surged compared to the same period last year. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), 33 emergencies were recorded in the six months, up from 7 a year earlier, resulting in 24 deaths, whereas no fatalities were reported in the first half of the previous year, infohub.kz reports.
During the reporting period, the country experienced 1,258 fires and 280 mudflows. To mitigate the aftermath, 149 people were evacuated, and 775 pieces of equipment and 4,114 personnel were deployed.
Rescuers cleared 1,874 residential houses and yards, 67 social facilities, 34 km of irrigation canals and ditches, and 96.5 km of roads. Additionally, over six months, they helped save 197 people and conducted 1,322 monitoring and research operations on hazardous natural sites across the country.
As preventive measures, 5,801 meters of dams and 131 meters of reinforced concrete barriers were built. These efforts protected 1,651 residential homes and 875 hectares of agricultural land.
