The average monthly payout from the Unified Accumulative Pension Fund (ENPF) upon reaching retirement age amounted to 39,008 tenge for January–August 2026, the fund said, according to infohub.kz.
The fund stressed that this figure refers specifically to the ENPF payout — the funded portion of a pension — and not to the average pension overall. The total pension also includes basic and solidarity payments from the state budget.
Over the eight months of 2026, the ENPF paid out and transferred a total of 1.24 trillion tenge to recipients and insurance organizations. Retirement-age payouts accounted for 196.23 billion tenge.
Kazakhstanis received another 462.75 billion tenge in one-time pension payouts for home improvements and medical treatment. Inheritance payouts totaled 70.61 billion tenge, while payouts for those moving abroad permanently amounted to 33.62 billion tenge.
The ENPF paid 2.32 billion tenge to people with disabilities and 6.33 billion tenge for funeral expenses. A further 470.49 billion tenge was transferred to insurance organizations.
As of September 1, 2026, the total volume of Kazakhstanis' pension savings reached 28.47 trillion tenge, up 3.36 trillion tenge, or 13.4%, over the year.
The bulk of the savings came from mandatory pension contributions — 26.37 trillion tenge. Over 12 months, that amount rose by 10.6%.
Savings from mandatory occupational pension contributions stood at 746.13 billion tenge, up 5% over the year. Another 10.43 billion tenge came from voluntary pension contributions, which grew by 7.1%.
The accounts also hold mandatory employer pension contributions, which have been paid since January 1, 2024. By September 1, their volume had reached 1.35 trillion tenge, nearly 2.5 times more than a year earlier.
Over the eight months of 2026, individual and conditional pension accounts received 2.44 trillion tenge in contributions — 15.9%, or 334.44 billion tenge, more than in the same period last year.
Besides contributions, pension savings grow through investment income, which has totaled 1.2 trillion tenge since the start of the year.
As of September 1, 2026, the ENPF had opened 19.01 million pension accounts, up 1.13 million, or 6.3%, over the year.
Of these, 12.87 million are individual pension accounts of contributors and recipients. This includes 11.42 million accounts tracking mandatory pension contributions, 794,380 tracking mandatory occupational pension contributions and 464,910 tracking voluntary pension contributions.
Another 6.14 million are conditional pension accounts, which record information on mandatory employer pension contributions.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that the National Bank wants to take over pension management at the ENPF once it has the staff in place.
