A multifunctional rescue vessel, the DAMEN Fast Crew Supplier 2710, built in Estonia, will now serve in Kazakhstan's sector of the Caspian Sea. It is designed for rescue operations and emergency response, according to infohub.kz.
The vessel was accepted by a delegation from Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations together with Tengiz Zhasagy JSC. The ship was built by DAMEN Workboats at its production facility in Kuressaare, Estonia.
The Ministry explained that the vessel is intended for search-and-rescue and emergency operations, oil spill response, rapid reaction to emergencies, and ensuring navigational safety. The need for such reinforcement of the fleet is particularly evident amid the declining level of the Caspian Sea and the shallowing of certain areas of the water area.
Due to changing navigational conditions, the risk of ships running aground and other incidents that could threaten people and the environment is increasing, the Ministry noted.
According to the manufacturer's official website, the Fast Crew Supplier 2710 SAR is 26.8 meters long and 10.5 meters wide. The hull and superstructure are made of aluminum, with a maximum draft of 2.3 meters. The vessel can reach speeds of up to 25 knots and travel up to 1,200 nautical miles at maximum speed. It can accommodate up to 14 crew members and up to 29 rescued people. The working deck area is 90 square meters.
For navigation, it is equipped with radar, AIS, echo sounder, GPS compass, and an integrated navigation system. The design also allows for the installation of special equipment for rescue operations, including a rescue boat, crane, drone platform, and equipment for firefighting and oil spill response.
