In Pavlodar, the former acting head of the branch of the state corporation "Government for Citizens" has been convicted of accepting a bribe in the form of a gift certificate for perfume, as reported by infohub.kz.

According to case files, the incident occurred in December 2025. An entrepreneur from Almaty asked the official to expedite the issuance of cadastral passports for land plots. The official agreed to help but made it clear that the service would not be free.

After the process was expedited, the businessman, fearing to hand over cash, purchased a gift certificate worth 50,000 tenge at a store near his workplace. In his testimony, he explained: "I was afraid to give cash and decided to buy a gift certificate worth 50,000 tenge at a store near work as a token of gratitude. I decided to give this certificate for expediting the issuance of state acts for land plots, registration of lease extension, and removal of the cadastral number mark."

The official accepted the gift, which led to criminal proceedings. Ultimately, he was found guilty of bribery and fined 1,250,000 tenge. The entrepreneur was also punished for offering a bribe and must pay a fine of 750,000 tenge.
