In Kokshetau, a formerly successful IT specialist serving his sentence met with students of a higher medical college and told them how and why he received eight years in prison, reports infohub.kz.

The meeting was held via video link. The man, sentenced to eight years for illegal trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances on an especially large scale, recounted how he destroyed his own life.

"He was once a successful IT specialist, had no financial difficulties, and seemed to have everything for a prosperous life. However, after getting involved with a dubious crowd, he began using drugs. Gradually, the addiction led him to distributing illegal substances, and then to arrest and a prison term," the Department of the Penal Enforcement System for Akmola Region said.

The convict told his story to the students in person, not hiding the consequences of his decisions. Future medical professionals actively asked questions and discussed how harmful habits and the influence of one's environment can ruin a person's career, freedom, and future.
