Prices for new cars in Kazakhstan have been steadily declining: in July they fell by 1%, and over the year by 12.2%. However, experts believe this trend may soon come to a halt, as dealers are already operating at the edge of their economic capabilities, reports infohub.kz.
It is worth recalling that in 2024 and 2025, Kazakhstan saw a steady increase in car prices. However, at the end of 2025, the situation changed dramatically, and in 2026 the downward trend intensified. New cars, both domestically produced and imported, began to get cheaper.
According to AutoReport, there is a limit to price reductions. This was stated by Artur Miskaryan, director of the Agency for Monitoring and Analysis of the Automotive Market.
"Will the decline continue further? Very unlikely, for the simple reason that most dealers are currently operating at the limit of their economic viability," the expert shared his opinion.
It is noted that in July, prices for new cars in Kazakhstan fell by 1% month-on-month, and by 12.2% year-on-year. The price decline has been ongoing for 10 consecutive months.
However, the expert also notes that in the future, when prices stop falling, this will not significantly hinder Kazakhstani citizens from buying a new car: by the end of the year, new brands and models will appear on the domestic car market, and a relaunch of leasing for individuals is also expected.
Meanwhile, it was previously reported what maximum rates for car leasing they want to set. According to the draft, they will range from 36% to 46% per annum, depending on the cost of the car itself.
It is also worth recalling that earlier analysts recorded a decrease in demand for car loans in Kazakhstan. As for the current situation, there is an increase in the production of new cars in Kazakhstan. However, the market turned out to be unprepared for this – it can absorb only half of the output. We have discussed the risks of this situation here.
