A foreign citizen who had been hiding from Kazakh law enforcement has been extradited from Vietnam, reports infohub.kz.
According to the investigation, between 2022 and 2023, the suspect and an accomplice organized an illegal gambling operation in Almaty, generating a criminal income of over 12 million tenge.
After the crime, one of the suspects was arrested and prosecuted, while the other fled and was placed on an international wanted list.
In February, the suspect was detained in Vietnam and later extradited to Kazakhstan at the request of the country's Prosecutor General's Office.
The suspect is currently in pretrial detention. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison and confiscation of property.
