With the start of the school year, Kazakhstanis have been reminded of the criminal liability for false reports of bombings at schools and other public places, reports infohub.kz.

The Astana Police Department has addressed citizens with an explanation of the consequences of such actions. According to Article 273 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "Knowingly false report of an act of terrorism," violators face a fine of up to 5,000 monthly calculation indices (over 21 million tenge), correctional labor, restriction of freedom, or imprisonment for up to 5 years.

The police emphasized that such reports are not a harmless joke. They force emergency services to respond to false calls, which can lead to serious consequences.

Law enforcement also recommended that parents and teachers regularly explain to children the inadmissibility of such actions and the importance of responsible behavior on the internet and in public places.
