Six people, including four children, were stranded on Lake Alakol after their inflatable boat's battery failed, according to the website infohub.kz.
A distress call was received at the rescue station of the operational-rescue team of the Emergency Situations Department of the Abai region. Vacationers near Araltobe island in the area of Makanchi village were unable to return to shore on their own.
"Rescuers set out to search. The boat with the people was found about 11 kilometers from the shore. On board were six people — two adults and four children. Emergency workers safely evacuated all vacationers and brought them to shore. Fortunately, no one needed medical assistance," the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
The department reminded that before heading out on the water, it is necessary to check the technical condition of the boat and equipment, assess weather conditions in advance, and not undertake long trips without communication devices and life jackets.
Earlier, two tragedies during family vacations on Lake Alakol in the Zhetysu region were reported. In one case, two jet skis collided on the lake, resulting in one death and one injury. In another, a 70-year-old woman lost both legs after being caught under a reversing ferry.
