In Kazakhstan, a sentence has been handed down to an employee of a family support center who, while helping victims of domestic violence, found himself in the dock for cruelty towards his own wife, reports infohub.kz.
According to the prosecutor's office of the Zhetysu region, the Karatal district court considered a criminal case against an employee of the family support center on charges of domestic violence.
At the time of the offense, he worked as a lawyer at the Zhanuya family support center, which provides assistance to victims of domestic violence. However, despite his professional role in protecting victims' rights, he committed unlawful acts against his wife.
During the trial, the state prosecutor fully proved his guilt. The court sentenced him to 200 hours of community service. The sentence has entered into legal force.
The prosecutor's office of the Zhetysu region reminds that domestic violence is unacceptable and entails liability under the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Work to ensure legality and protect victims' rights is under constant supervision of the prosecutor's office.
