In Almaty, a 44-year-old man died after falling from an electric scooter. The tragedy occurred at night on Varlamov Street, near Tole bi Avenue, reports infohub.kz.
According to preliminary data, the man lost control and hit a curb, after which he fell. Police noted that all circumstances of the incident are currently being established.
As a result of the fall, the Almaty resident sustained injuries incompatible with life. Paramedics who arrived at the scene performed resuscitation, but they could not save the man.
According to preliminary information, he was not wearing a protective helmet or other personal protective equipment during the ride.
Police reminded e-scooter users to follow safety measures and use protective helmets and other protective gear.
Earlier it was reported that since August 25, e-scooters have been banned from riding on sidewalks. They can be ridden on bike paths, bike lanes, and the shoulder of the roadway. Police plan to monitor compliance with the rules using patrols on e-scooters, CCTV cameras, and drones.
