A father and daughter have been sentenced in Kokshetau for the illegal acquisition, storage, and sale of synthetic drugs, reports infohub.kz.

According to investigators, in April, a 20-year-old resident of Kokshetau illegally purchased a psychotropic substance in especially large quantities. Almost immediately after that, the young woman came to the attention of drug enforcement officers.

During the investigation, it was revealed that her father was also involved in the illegal activity. The man, who had no official income, found an advertisement on social media offering a way to earn money and agreed to work as a drug courier.

His activities were stopped by police, who arrested him red-handed. During the operation, 30 packages containing a synthetic drug were seized from him.

After reviewing the criminal cases, the court found both the father and daughter guilty. In July, guilty verdicts were handed down six days apart.

The 20-year-old woman was sentenced to 4 years in prison. However, due to the Amnesty Law, the term was reduced to 2 years and 8 months. Her father was sentenced to 5 years and 4 months in prison. However, considering that the man is a widower and is raising a minor child on his own, the court postponed the execution of the sentence for three years.
