FBI Director Kash Patel plans to visit Russia on October 14–15, Politico reported, citing two U.S. officials familiar with the matter. He will first arrive in Moscow, then travel to St. Petersburg. The host is expected to be Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), according to infohub.kz.
Another U.S. official confirmed the plans, saying the visit is scheduled for the fall. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because the plans are confidential.
It remains unclear whether Patel will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin or any of his senior aides. Also unknown is what issues will be on the agenda of possible talks.
White House officials redirected requests for comment to the FBI, which did not respond as of publication.
