The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has expressed full support for its president, Gianni Infantino, following the scandal surrounding World Cup rights, according to infohub.kz.

A statement appeared on the organization's official website following the Executive Committee meeting in Rabat. The FIFA Secretary General and members of the governing board confirmed that Infantino is the only official elected by all 211 member associations of FIFA.

The meeting also discussed the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) project. It was acknowledged that mistakes were made during its preparation. "Participants agreed that the FIFA Council and national associations should not have felt excluded from the decision-making process, and the procedure itself should have been organized differently. In addition, it was recognized that further mistakes were made after the leak of information about the project to the media," the statement said.

In a separate letter sent to the FIFA Council and national associations, the organization apologized for these mistakes and pledged to prevent their recurrence.

"As previously reported, the FFE proposal, which in any case would have required approval from both the national associations and the FIFA Council, has been definitively withdrawn. Following the abandonment of the project, FIFA's leadership agreed that the organization will no longer tolerate any attacks on its reputation, principles of good governance, and adherence to established procedures, and will take all necessary measures to protect its name and authority," the statement said.

Earlier, FIFA had drawn up a plan to sell the rights to the men's, women's, and club World Cups to private investors. In response, all members of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) declared a boycott of FIFA tournaments until the initiative was fully dropped.

UEFA's position was supported by the confederations of the Americas and Asia. They all criticized FIFA for a lack of transparency in shaping the new commercial concept.

Amid the scandal, it became known that a FIFA presidential adviser was dismissed in protest. UEFA even developed a plan to hold its own version of the World Cup.

After that, FIFA abandoned the controversial plan to sell World Cup rights.
