A serious fire broke out in a two-story building in the Almaty district of Kazakhstan's capital. The flames engulfed the roof of the structure, reports infohub.kz.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the fire started in a building where a sauna and a beer store are located on the ground floor, and a private kindergarten on the second.

The ministry noted that by the time the first fire crews arrived, the roof was fully ablaze. Firefighting efforts were hampered by dense construction, heavy smoke, and narrow driveways and passages.

Thanks to the prompt actions of the firefighters, the flames were prevented from spreading to neighboring residential buildings. The fire was completely extinguished over an area of 250 square meters. There were no casualties.
