The Mangystau Regional Ecology Department has revealed the circumstances of a fire at the Kulzhan oil field, as reported by infohub.kz.

The incident occurred on August 7, 2026. According to information from Meerbusch LLP, a local fire was recorded at the oil delivery point of the field.

Preliminary data indicates that the fire broke out on a cementing unit TsA-320 during internal cleaning of bottom sediments in reservoir RVS No. 2 with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters. At the time of the work, the reservoir was empty and contained no oil.

As a result of the incident, there were no casualties. The fire was contained at 19:20 and fully extinguished by 20:00. The facility is currently operating normally. Preliminary, no significant material damage has been identified.

The department emphasized that the Emergency Situations Department of Mangystau Region and the State Labor Inspectorate have been notified.

The final cause of the fire, the extent of possible damage, and legal assessment will be determined after an inspection of the facility and verification measures. No oil spill beyond the process equipment and territory has been allowed.
