On July 17, the largest fire since World War II in Norway destroyed more than 100 residential homes, reports infohub.kz.

The fire broke out in the municipality of Drammen in southern Norway, about 50 kilometers west of Oslo. It engulfed the village of Krokstadelva, destroying over 100 homes and spreading to a nearby forest. Twelve fire trucks and two helicopters were deployed, with four more helicopters en route. Approximately 400 people were evacuated, 10 suffered from smoke inhalation, and two were hospitalized. One police officer sustained minor injuries.

The Intermunicipal Fire Service of Vestfold County said the fire is under control, but extinguishing efforts will continue through the day due to remaining hot spots in both the residential area and the forest.
