Round-the-clock efforts to extinguish a forest fire in the Semey Ormany state forest natural reserve continue. Firefighters have managed to extinguish the open flames, according to infohub.kz.

As of 7:00 a.m. on July 17, according to the Ministry of Ecology, 769 people, 191 ground vehicles, and 8 helicopters have been deployed to fight the fire.

“Thanks to the coordinated and swift actions of all involved services, the open fire has been extinguished. Currently, work is underway to eliminate individual smoldering spots. Throughout the night, personnel continued efforts to contain the fire,” the ministry reported.

Since the start of firefighting, aircraft have made 219 water drops, delivering 474 tons of water to the blaze.

Work is ongoing to fully contain and extinguish the forest fire. The situation remains under constant monitoring, the Ministry of Ecology added.

Earlier, it was reported that a forest fire broke out in the reserve in the Abai region. Ground equipment and aircraft were deployed. Due to the fire, 190 children and 20 staff were evacuated from the “DosbolLike” camp. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov urgently dispatched ministers to the scene. Previously, the Ministry of Ecology and the Ministry of Emergency Situations released aerial photographs and videos of the fire.
