A fire broke out at the Zhigher construction market in Aktobe, sending black smoke over the city, reports the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as cited by NUR.KZ (via infohub.kz).

The emergency hotline 101 received a report of a fire in warehouse premises at the Zhigher construction market in the Astana district of Aktobe. Upon arrival, first responders found a warehouse with construction materials ablaze. Emergency services from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) rushed to the scene. Firefighters from the operational rescue squad of the Department of Emergency Situations (DChS), specialists from the Center for Disaster Medicine (TsMK), servicemen from military unit 20982 of the MChS, local executive authorities, the police department, and ambulance crews were involved in extinguishing the fire.

An operational headquarters was set up at the scene. Firefighting efforts were hampered by the building's design: the warehouse was made of metal structures covered with profiled sheets, and the roof was built on a wooden lathing.

During the firefighting, firefighter Dimash Zhetpisbai carried a small puppy out of the burning building. "Every life matters to us," the MChS said in a statement.

The fire was extinguished at 7:01 p.m. No casualties were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
